Pattingham Vineyard, located on Great Moor Road, Wolverhampton, produces English sparkling and still wines and operates a coffee shop and tasting rooms. The modern, two-storey building was brand new when completed, but no lift had been included in the original design.
Soon after opening, the vineyard recognised that visitors requiring wheelchair access were unable to reach the second-floor coffee shop and tasting rooms, resulting in lost bookings for both regular visits and private events. It became clear that an immediate accessibility solution was needed to provide an inclusive environment and protect the venue’s growing business.
The Platform Lift Company installed a stylish external platform lift providing direct access to the second-floor coffee shop, tasting rooms, and outdoor terrace/patio. This solution was selected as there was no internal space for a lift, and an external installation could be implemented quickly to address urgent accessibility needs.
A concrete base was constructed to support the lift, and the system was designed to complement the building’s modern aesthetic. The lift delivers reliable and safe access to all second-floor facilities, ensuring every visitor can enjoy the full range of experiences offered by the vineyard.
The external platform lift has fully restored accessibility at Pattingham Vineyard, allowing all guests to reach the second-floor coffee shop, tasting rooms, and terrace. Visitor inclusivity has improved significantly, resulting in increased bookings for private events and day-to-day visits.
Stevie Wilcox, representing the vineyard, expressed their satisfaction with the solution and noted that they wished a lift had been considered during the building’s design. The quick and professional installation ensured minimal disruption and delivered a reliable, stylish access solution that meets the venue’s needs.
