More Education is a charity dedicated to providing support for local autistic and neurodivergent individuals, as well as those with learning disabilities. The latest project from More Education involves the development of a community hub aimed at supporting individuals who are autistic, neurodivergent, or have learning disabilities. This space provides a welcoming environment for individuals of all ages to access services, activities, and resources that are tailored to their needs. The hub is designed to be a sensory-safe, nurturing environment, offering vital community support and connection.
The building housing the hub has three levels that must be fully accessible, as More Education serves individuals with a wide range of disabilities. However, the building faced several accessibility challenges, including steps leading to the lower level and essential facilities, such as the disabled toilet, located on the top floor.
To ensure the building was fully accessible, we installed a platform lift that allows users to reach all three levels of the building with ease. The installation of a platform lift provides a seamless solution for overcoming accessibility barriers, particularly in community spaces like this one, which cater to diverse needs.
In recognition of More Education’s important role in the local community, we worked closely with them to provide an affordable solution for their accessibility needs. The lift is modern, spacious, and has been integrated beautifully into the building’s design, preserving the open and airy feel of the space while improving accessibility.
