Liam O’Sullivan

Liam O’Sullivan who heads up our Service & Maintenance Department, talks about his role, how he plans to expand this side of the business and what his key motivators are.

Have you always worked within the platform lift industry?

Yes, I have. After completing college where I studied business, I joined the Platform Lift Company’s installation team working up and down the country while carrying out my engineering training. I quickly realised the importance of having a one-stop-shop which solely specialises in platform lifts where you can get not only access to the right parts, but also speedy delivery. Six years later, I am now heading up this department which I believe is an essential support to not only our  team of engineers but also other engineers working on platform lifts.

What would you say are your key motivators?

Building our service and maintenance department into a dedicated team of engineers and staff so we can take this side of the business to another level.

How do you plan to grow the business?

We are working hard to spread the word within the lift industry and to other customers such as facilities managers or independent engineers that we are the only platform lift specialist in the UK. Our expert service supports the whole process from giving technical advice and same day quotes to delivery of parts within two/three day periods. Our current aim is to reduce our delivery times even more and equip our engineers with enough spare parts for a variety of different models to minimise repeat visits to site. 

Describe your typical day.

From the moment I walk through the door, I am busy dealing with orders, quoting customers, booking service visits and creating new contracts with our growing customer base. Occasionally I have to deal with breakdowns but thankfully not very often as our platform lifts rarely fail.  

What has been your biggest achievement?

I am really proud to have secured platform lift service contracts across the country for major well-known brands such as Ferrari, Rolex, Louis Vuitton, Apple and many more.
