Disabled Access for Leading Retail Store
Due to the change to DDA standards, leading retail store, Monsoon Accessorize, launched a disabled access project for ten of its retail stores that were being refurbished.
The retail stores were a mixture of listed buildings and non-listed buildings. The platform lifts needed to be in compliance with architectural restrictions, as well as being in keeping with the contemporary design of each individual store.
The Platform Lift Company decided to install its DDA-compliant, Internal Vertical platform lift. This is designed to be free standing and is perfect for listed buildings with architectural restrictions, as it does not affect the structure or supports of the building.
The cost-effective, Internval Vertical platform lift is available with a one-hour, fire rated shaft and battery backup of emergency power, ideal for the retail environment. The platform lift also includes slip-resistant floors and contact-sensitive perimeter safety edges, which cater for staff and customer passengers.
The new platform lifts have created DDA accessibility to top floor shopping levels. Staff also benefit, as moving stock is now far easier. The fresh, contemporary look of the platform lift complements the fresh, newly-refurbished stores.
