Bespoke Wheelchair Access Steplift
Ferrari Retail Store
Requirement: The first British Ferrari retail store required a bespoke, wheelchair access steplift to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 2005. The aim was to provide step-free access for both shoppers and staff. The lift design also needed to be functional, contemporary, in line with the Ferrari brand and DDA compliant. The Percassi Group, one of the world’s leading international retailers, approached GAD-Design to oversee the refurbishment. GAD Design contacted the Platform Lift Company.
Solution: The Italian designed, Steplift was specified. This access lift can be customised to fit any type of environment. The lift design consists of a self-supporting structure and can be installed into a pre-existing shaft. This eliminates major structural change and aids rapid installation, with minimum disruption. This solution meant that the bespoke requirements could be met.
Benefits: The step lift was modified into cabin structure so that it feels more like a passenger lift. It was finished in gun-metal grey and clad in Ferrari red to match the branding and corporate identity of the store. The glass panels on the lift were frosted upon special request, to create a current and contemporary finish.
