Chambers Jersey

Project

As part of its recent refurbishment, the popular restaurant, bar and nightclub, Chambers in St Helier Jersey required a platform lift solution to create an accessible layout.

Access Solution

Tyrrell Dowinton Associates (TDA) who were providing all the aspects of the refurbishment of Chambers including the concept design, building regulations and interior design, planned to extend seating areas for the new restaurant and utilise all available space by creating different levels. Instead of being on one floor, Chambers would be divided into three.

To create step free access to all areas, TDA needed to introduce a platform lift into their design concept. TDA contacted The Platform Lift Company for an enclosed platform lift which could travel up to six metres and could be made to specification to incorporate elements of the new interior design.

The Platform Lift Company designed and built a three stop hydraulic platform lift solution which would deliver a smooth and quiet user journey to each of the floors. To complement the stylish interior, the shaft and lift were finished in a bespoke RAL.

Results

The successful installation of the platform lift, which was carried out within a three day period, has made Chambers fully accessible to wheelchair users and people with disabilities. Customers can now enjoy step free access to all three floors including the new mezzanine floor and restaurant area. The unique grey blue finish of the lift combined with the glass door blended in perfectly with the venue's contemporary, atmospheric, and fashionable décor.
