Boots retail stores increase disability access
Disability lifts are being installed within Boots stores throughout the UK. The Internal Vertical platform lifts, supplied and installed by The Platform Lift Company will create access that complies with the Disability Discrimination Act.
The platform lifts will provide customers and staff with a number of safety features. This includes a slip resistance floor, a rigid handrail, stop and alarm buttons located within arms length, plus contact sensitive perimeter safety edges that stop the lift when touched.
Installation of lifts will have minimal impact on the structure of the stores as the Internal Vertical platform lift is freestanding and can come complete with its own 1 hour fire rated shaft. Instead of digging down, the shafts will be erected by cutting a 50mm pit in the floor
The Internal Vertical platform lift has a limited speed of just 0.15m/s and is designed to travel up 13m to reach multiply floors carrying a rated load of 400, 630 or 1000kgs.
