Washington Old Hall
External Platform Lift for Grade One Listed Building
Requirement
An external platform lift solution was required by the National Trust for its Grade One Listed building, Washington Old Hall. The venue needed to provide DDA access within its gardens, which are split between two levels. It was imperative that the lift solution fitted in with the surrounding environment.
Solution
The Platform Lift Company installed an external vertical platform lift, primarily designed for external applications. The user-operated, free-standing, access platform lift is a simple Screw and Nut driven lifting platform which does not require a pit. The lift design includes a ramp, giving a short lift installation time. The external Vertical platform lift has a lifting height of up to two metres, with open design and saloon-style swing back doors, covered by toughened and laminated glazed panels.
Benefits
Washington Old Hall which attracts over 17,000 visitors a year, now boasts a DDA compliant, user-operated platform lift, which makes the gardens wheelchair accessible. The external platform lift fits in well with the surrounding environment and is the first of its kind at a National Trust property.
