Kimmeridge Museum

95 Miles of coastline with 185 million years of history!

The Museum of Jurassic Marine Life and the Etches Collection will soon be housed in a brand new Museum in Kimmeridge, opening in late 2016. Steve Etches, a local Kimmeridge fossil collector and expert has, over the last 30 years, discovered, collected and researched over 2000 incredible late Jurassic Kimmeridgian specimens. His collection contains the most extensive and finest fossil specimens ever found in the Kimmeridgian Clay Formation. For the first time ever, these will be on display in a brand new immersive museum which will take the visitor on a journey through underwater life 150 million years ago.

Kimmeridge MuseumThe Platform Lift Company was contacted through the Architects KOC Architects to help design a Platform type lift into their clients’ £4.7 million building project, we were asked to provide a fully glazed door on both the ground and 1st floors, and a solid steel shaft on the ground floor then coming up through the floor a fully glazed shaft, flush mounted call stations and a colour to blend into the building.

“There was only one Platform Lift Company that could supply this level of detail with site specific drawing including the builders work detail & that’s The Platform Lift Company” said the Architect.

We offered a contemporary hydraulic type British Style platform lift from our Platform Lift range, that come with its very own pump box that can be housed some 5 meters from the base of the hydraulic piston making the Platform Lift a silent travel.

As with all of The Platform Lift Companies installations, the lift comes complete with 12 months maintenance through one of our very own skilled service engineers.
