Cumberland Lodge, Windsor Park

Bespoke Platform Lift for Grade Two Listed Conference Centre

Requirement:

Cumberland Lodge is a Grade Two listed, seventeenth-century building set in the heart of Windsor Great Park. The lodge is a unique conference centre, whose patron is the Queen.

Farr and Roberts (Building) Ltd was contracted to carry out a 0.5 million pound refurbishment to the kitchen and scullery areas. Part of the refurbishment was to install a platform lift that would allow staff to gain access to the basement for storage use. The platform lift did not need to be DDA compliant, but it did need to fit into a small area of the kitchen that leads down to the basement.

Solution:

Due to space restrictions, the platform lift design needed to be bespoke. Farr and Roberts contracted the Platform Lift Company to design and manufacture the platform lift. Once designed, the Platform Lift Company sub-contracted the project to Translift, who manufactured the lift. The lift was designed to take loads up to one tonne, which would allow staff to move heavy objects with ease.

Benefits:

The lift installation process went smoothly and both the Platform Lift Company and Translift delivered Cumberland Lodge a bespoke platform lift solution that met with its requirements.
