Butts Dental Practice

DDA Compliant Access for Dental Practice

Requirement

Butts Dental Practice required a DDA compliant wheelchair access lift to allow it to expand its practice into the basement flat of its Victorian building. Due to space restrictions, the dental practice wanted to explore the possibility of an external platform lift to provide access for all patients.

Solution

The Platform Lift Company recommended its 2m step lift, which would combat the access restrictions of the Victorian building, as neither the first floor, nor the basement was on a level with the pavement. It was important that the DDA compliant lift remained in keeping with the surrounding architecture.

Benefits

The Step Lift met both structural and architectural requirements. The stylish contemporary-designed step lift blended in with the existing architecture and eliminated the need for internal structural alterations. The carriage’s open look, achieved by big glass safety panels and solid details in stainless steel, created an elegant DDA access solution.

Rapid installation was achieved due to the installation-friendly site assembly system for the guiding frame. The machine box may be fitted to guiding frames of different lengths in order to suit a wide range of lifting heights.

Since installing the step lift, The Butts Dental Practice has been actively marketing the fact it now has disabled access; this has resulted in the practice gaining new patients. The lift is constantly in use and has proved to be a real asset to the practice, as well as meeting DDA standards and complying with the Machinery Directive.
